The classroom experience begins with a 2-day pre-program weekend on March 22 - 23, 2025. The sessions will cover an introduction into some foundational topics such as time value of money and excel, as well as coding basics. Some career success topics will be introduced as well. The weekend provides an opportunity for a soft start and ice-breaking, while introducing you to your classmates.
The main classroom learning occurs weekdays from May 1 to May 30, 2025. Each day will consist of four 80-minute sessions throughout the morning and early afternoon and time for group work/study. The careful sequencing of the individual sessions and themes that build on one another to provide you with a powerful and unique learning experience. Topics include*:

Technical skills
- The basics: Excel, coding, and accounting;
- Time value of money;
- Analytics and statistics;
- Financial statements and financial ratios;
- Investing, the cost of capital, and capital structure;
- Risk and return and market efficiency;
- Bond and stock valuation;
- Cash flow estimation, discounted cash flow analysis, and relative valuation;
- Behavioural finance; and,
- Portfolio theory and portfolio allocation.
Industry knowledge
- Capital markets overview;
- Asset management overview;
- Size-up process;
- Specialty topics; and,
- Expert panels.
Capstone activity
- Team-based; and,
- Deep-dive company analysis.
During the program students will participate in a team-based capstone activity, and goes beyond the classroom, into the boardroom. The focus will be on a publicly-traded company with a headquarters in the Toronto area. Teams will analyze a company and spend time meeting with senior executives. They will then work on their analysis, applying technical skills and industry knowledge, and develop a presentation by applying career success tools. Faculty coaching will be provided. Teams will make presentations in Toronto to senior executives, followed by a program wrap-up and networking event.
