The PhD Sustainability Academy, co-hosted by the Ivey Business School and Alliance for Research on Corporate Sustainability (ARCS), convenes 15 promising PhD students and senior researchers championing path-breaking research on sustainability across multiple disciplines using diverse theoretical and methodological approaches. Each student receives intensive feedback on their research project. The participants and faculty members represent a range of management disciplines and methodologies. This Academy represents one of the foremost learning and networking events for students researching social and environmental issues.
"From the bottom of my heart, this was by far the best academic conference I have ever been. I felt those three days helped us all to develop and grow not only academically but above and beyond that as human beings. I was impressed by how well the academic discussions connected with speakers and exercises. Thank you for caring about us as young scholars and as human beings in search of enlightenment." - Leandro Pongeluppe, 2019 PhD Sustainability Academy Fellow
“The Academy provided a unique safe space for collaboration, connection, and reflection focused on the research we do and why we do it. The emphasis on positive affirmation and constructive developmental feedback was particularly refreshing, making for a truly transformative experience.” - Kevin Chuah, 2019 PhD Sustainability Academy Fellow
“The Academy is not just another workshop. It is a profound and concentrated regenerative experience, a source of professional growth through open and supportive conversations with top mentors and enthusiastic peers, a space where to build genuine and lasting relationships with people as passionate as you about sustainable issues, an elixir for the soul where to cultivate love for your work and yourself.” - Lucrezia Nava, 2019 PhD Sustainability Academy Fellow
“The discussions were intense and stimulating! I think everyone came back from the Academy with a myriad of new research ideas as well as a set of new friends.” - Magali Delmas, ARCS President and 2014 PhD Sustainability Academy Faculty Mentor
