Empowering the next generation of sustainable leaders
Cynthia Liao is currently driving initiatives to increase health and energy access for low- and middle-income countries at the Clinton Health Access Initiative. Her experiences include working with a consortium of global donors to create and invest in interventions to sustainably scale access to assistive technologies for people with disabilities, supporting the World Health Organization's COVID-19 response efforts by securing long-term supply agreements of critical commodities for developing countries and partnering with medical device companies and governments across Asia and Africa to develop and scale pneumonia diagnostics and oxygen therapy. Previously, Cynthia helped launch a $300M solar investment fund at General Electric and is now merging her passions in health and energy by pioneering the first solar lease for rural hospitals in Uganda. Cynthia holds an HBA from the Ivey Business School and during that time, consulted for a leading social enterprise working on off-grid solar based in India. Cynthia has been named one of Canada's Next 36 as well as a Schwarzman Scholar and will be completing the Schwarzman Scholar Fellowship at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.
