I am seeking to broaden my knowledge in the sustainability sector. With a strong background in finance and consulting, I am committed to leveraging my expertise to drive positive environmental and social change. My academic achievements and professional experiences, including private equity analysis and pro-bono consulting for community-focused organizations, have equipped me with the tools to contribute meaningfully to sustainability initiatives. I am enthusiastic about applying my passion and skills to create a more sustainable future for businesses and local communities.

What is your personal definition of sustainability?

For me, sustainability is all about people. It's about creating a world where everyone has what they need to live well and thrive, now and in the future. This means making sure that businesses and communities take care of each other and the planet. It's about treating everyone fairly, no matter where they come from or what they believe. Sustainability is also about making sure that our actions today make life better for the generations that come after us, so they can enjoy the same opportunities that we do.

What role do you see sustainability playing in your professional career?

Incorporating sustainability into my professional career is a natural progression from my personal experiences. My time at the University Students' Council (USC), where I advocated for inclusivity and fairness, aligns closely with the social aspects of sustainability. Serving as the Chairman of the Finance & Governance Portfolio, I learned firsthand the importance of considering diverse perspectives and ensuring equitable outcomes for all.

My work with the Ivey Community Consulting Project further reinforced these values. Collaborating with Nokee Kwe, an Indigenous-led Employment and Education Centre, I saw how sustainable practices can positively impact communities. This experience deepened my commitment to integrating sustainability into business practices, emphasizing social responsibility and community engagement.

What sustainability projects have you been engaged in?

I have been engaged in several sustainability projects that have shaped my passion for sustainable practices. As part of the Ivey Community Consulting Project, I collaborated with a team to develop sustainable strategies for Nokee Kwe, an Indigenous-led Employment and Education Centre. This experience allowed me to see firsthand the positive impact that sustainable practices can have on communities.

Additionally, my role as a Private Equity Analyst at LaurelCrest Partners involved evaluating potential investments through a sustainability lens. This included considering the environmental and social impacts of each opportunity and identifying ways to integrate sustainable practices into business strategies.

Looking ahead, I am excited about the opportunity to work on sustainability projects at Propel Impact, a non-profit organization that helps other non-profits with funding through loans among other financing options.

My previous experiences have deepened my understanding of sustainability and its importance in both business and community contexts. I am eager to continue my work in sustainability and contribute to creating a more sustainable future for all.

Please list any sustainability-related interests you want to explore during the certificate.

I’m very interested in sustainable consulting and impact-investing. Currently, I am trying to find a position at BCG and Kearney as they are two consulting groups that have extensive work in the sustainability field, so being able to align my skills with what they need in an associate would be amazing.

Furthermore, as I go to Propel Impact, I would love to learn more about impact-investing prior, during, and after my internship.
