I am a third year HBA student with a very diverse set of interests. Although I began my undergraduate degree in business, I took a wide variety of courses that ranged from astronomy to geography. Outside of academics, I am interested in living a healthy lifestyle. I am an avid long-distance runner who loves the outdoors, and takes any chance I get to run outside, regardless of the time of year. In addition to these interests, I have always been committed to fighting issues of social justice and have taken on many leadership roles to work towards fighting these issues.

What is your personal definition of sustainability?
My personal definition of sustainability is making choices which benefit all aspects of the planet; the environment, human well-being, and the economy. Sustainability goes beyond just protecting the environment, although certainly does include this, but it involves connecting all of the elements so that a mutually beneficial system exists. It is important for every person in the world to fight for sustainability, so that generations to come can derive the same benefits as we have.
What role do you see sustainability playing in your professional career?
I hope that sustainability plays a major role in my professional career. Not only do I want to work for an organization which cares about sustainability, but I want to be there and working at the front of the line to move initiatives forward and constantly make improvements. I believe it is more than possible for all organizations to achieve their goals, while making sustainable choices. I want to use my education and the opportunity I have been given to bring this to the business world. Although I am not sure exactly where I want my career to take me, I know that working towards sustainability will be a part of it.
What sustainability projects have you been engaged in?
Dominican Republic HOPE Trip- I participated in a mission trip to travel to the Dominican Republic and construct a series of homes. After completing the initial stages of fundraising and planning of the trip, I travelled along with 11 other students to the centre of the Dominican Republic. In this area, my group worked to build housing surrounding a coffee plantation. This housing was to be used by workers of the coffee plantation and their families, who were extremely poor and would otherwise be sleeping without any form of shelter.
Right to Play- Promotional Executive
In this club, I was responsible for creating and implementing promotional initiatives for club events. These events fundraised money for the Right to Play organization. Right to Play then used this money to provide less-fortunate children with the opportunity to participate in sports.
Together, these experiences strengthened my passion for fighting issues of social justice.
For the summer of 2016 I will be working at Freshii. I have been told one of the components of my position will be working on their partnership with Free the Children.
