HBA Sustainability Certificate
Empowering the next generation of sustainable leaders
Bio
I'm a transfer student from the University of Regina who absolutely loved the Ivey experience this first year. Not surprisingly, I love to travel while also experiencing different locales and cultures; North America, Europe and Africa have already been crossed off my list and I will be going to Asia this summer. I enjoy volunteering and have ties to several national not-for-profits. In the long term, I'd love to work for a global corporation or engage in some form of international business. Eventually teaching ESL in Asia is a personal goal somewhere down the road - languages are a passion of mine.

Personal Definition of Sustainability
To me, sustainability is about the long term viability of any sort of project, not just short term gains. This involves stepping back and taking a broader perspective of things, like implications that are often lost because people are so caught up in their own mindset or have tunnel vision when it comes to the opinions of others. I think sustainability is vital to the success of projects that have over-arching goals, not narrow ones, and can be used as a measurement tool in the sense that it will reflect the long term success.
Sustainability-in-Action
I am the past president for the University of Regina branch of Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE), an international organization of student volunteers that run projects to create awareness about entrepreneurial undertakings and enhance people's financial literacy skills, while contributing to the communities in which they operate at local and national levels. Here, I was tasked with rebuilding this particular chapter, making it sustainable for years to come, while at the same time, creating and implementing sustainable projects to achieve our goals.
This summer, I am working with the branch at UWO, which is only several years old, as an advisor to ensure the sustainability of this young team and help them create new and viable projects to use for years to come.
