Diya is an undergraduate student studying Business Administration at the Ivey Business School. She joined the Ivey Sustainable Finance Lab in January 2024 as a Research Assistant to support the Deshkan Ziibi Conservation Impact Bond project. More specifically, she is exploring the effective and equitable use of conservation market-based instruments such as biodiversity offsets/credits by Indigenous communities. She hopes this project will provide market participants with a guide to engage with Indigenous communities as a step towards reconciliation efforts in Canada.

In the past, she has spent her summers working at Canada Pension Plan Investment Board in Credit and in the private markets. Diya’s other academic interests include economic development, particularly in emerging markets and marginalized communities in developed economies.
