"I truly enjoyed all of the discussions throughout the weekend and was impressed by the work presented by all of the other students. I've returned home with valuable insights about sustainability, the bottom of the pyramid, and the field of academia. Your event was a great experience and I've made some valuable friendships that I'm sure will last into the future."
Kelly Weidner, The University of Illinois at Chicago
"I went to the 2008 PhD sustainability academy with the expectation to have a little feedback on my paper. Initially I did not get what I was hoping for. However at the end I left with clear ideas for a paper, a book, a case, new teaching insights and last but not least a bunch of new friends. How this has happened is impossible for me to describe but it was definitely one of the best academic experiences of my life. I therefore can only encourage you to experience it yourself."
Christoph Beuttler, University of London
"I found the wine tasting tour very informative and inspiring because the growers are finding ways of working with nature instead of against it to produce quality wines. The re-creation of wetlands, organic farming, reduced use of chemicals etc., all struck a chord. I was also interested to learn of the attempts to deal responsibly with the issue of migrant workers. I got to taste ice wine for the first time in my life and loved it. I think it's a pity that we cannot access fine Canadian wines in the rest of the world."
