The Ivey Sustainability Conference is generously funded by the Beryl M. Ivey fund.

Ivey hosted the 2nd annual Ivey Sustainability Conference on November 30 – December 1, 2017. Organizing faculty Diane-Laure Arjaliès, Tima Bansal, Oana Branzei, and Jury Gualandris shook up the traditional Ivey Research Series experience by hosting a dream list of academics in the business sustainability field to present over two days at Ivey. This year’s dream list included Rodolphe Durand (HEC Paris), Jean-Pascal Gond (Cass Business School), and Juliane Reinecke (King’s Business School).

Organizers recognize that the time is now for business schools to take the lead of the global movement towards sustainable development – development that provides for the needs of organizations and society, both today and tomorrow.

Engaged scholarship is one way that business schools can leverage their research strength to advance sustainable development. Through engaged scholarship, academics design, execute and implement findings from rigorous research that can help society address the challenges it faces.

During this year’s plenary session, visiting scholars shared their views on engaged scholarship – Should we be engaged scholars? And if so, what does that mean?

We learn from the diverse views of Rodolphe, Jean-Pascal and Juliane on engaged scholarship, by watching the video below.

We also warmly welcome you to attend the next Ivey Sustainability Conference on December 6-7, 2018. Please contact Diane-Laure Arjaliès (darjalies@ivey.ca) to learn more or be added to the list of 2018 invitees.

About the Ivey Sustainability Conference

The purpose of the Ivey Sustainability Conference is to create an inclusive community of scholars who are eager to push the frontiers of knowledge towards sustainable development. Researchers from all disciplines and career stages are welcome to attend and participate in the conference. At a time when intellectual discourse seems to be divisive, we hope that, through this conference, we can build safe, stimulating arenas for the scientific community to engage and grow intellectually, in order to assure the prosperity for all.
