Blockchain for Social Good

The Scotiabank Digital Banking Lab welcomed Ivey Alum and UNICEF Blockchain Lead Christina Lomazzo to lead a Lunch & Learn session at Ivey. Christina discussed "Blockchain for Social Good" as she delved into use cases around cryptocurrency and blockchain.
Later that day, Christina spoke to 70 Ivey MBA students about how to implement blockchain across a number of concrete use cases.

Second Toronto Fintech Conference
March 28, 2019
Building upon the success of the 2017 Toronto FinTech Conference, this event attracted 90 paper submissions from some of the world’s leading universities in the fields of finance, economics, strategy, entrepreneurship, information systems, accounting, and law. Scholars from 48 universities were represented creating a unique multidisciplinary forum. The quality of submissions was reflected in each of the sub-tracks and exemplified by the award winning papers.

The Ivey Fintech Club hosted its first ever blockchain panel, consisting of Mauricio Di Bartolomeo and Adam Reeds from Ledn, Justin John from Mavennet, and Montaek Kohli from Bicameral Ventures. Coming from a variety of perspectives in the industry but all Ivey Alumni, they provided the students with a wide assortment of knowledge ranging from their interest in blockchain and its potential use in cases.

FinTech 101: What Policymakers Need to Know

The Scotiabank Digital Banking Lab at Ivey Business School and Upside Consulting organized a FinTech workshop for public-sector officials that took place on Tuesday April 4th, 2017. This event provided policymakers, regulators and other public sector employees with an introduction to financial technology (“FinTech”), the different business lines, and the Toronto ecosystem. The event was hosted at OneEleven, a tech start-up accelerator located in downtown Toronto.
The workshop featured founders and senior executives from FinTech start-ups, investors, and hubs who donated their time in the interests of promoting Canada’s FinTech ecosystem.
