Ivey welcomed the largest Master of Management (MM) in Analytics cohort to date – 52 students from 22 different universities – at an orientation event last night to kick off their first residence week of the program.
In his welcome address at the event at Ivey's Spencer Leadership Centre, Greg Zaric, Faculty Director of the MM in Analytics, encouraged the students to get to know each other and take advantage of the breadth of experience in the class.
“This is a very diverse cohort. More than 40 per cent are women and our students come from 11 different birth countries. They received their undergraduate degrees at 22 different institutions and they are currently employed in 17 different industries,” he said. “We are thrilled to be able to welcome such a diverse and talented group.”
Preparing students for the future of business
The students also heard from Lyn Purdy, Ivey’s Associate Dean of Programs, who discussed how the program will help to prepare them for the future of business.
“The MM in Analytics program was designed to accelerate your career by building on your professional analytical experience and providing you with business fundamentals and management skills. It will prepare you to lead the business of the future,” she said. “I believe that Ivey is going to be a transformational experience for you.”
Purdy told the students they are joining the School at an exciting time as Ivey celebrates its 100th anniversary throughout the year. She noted Ivey was the first business school to grant a master’s degree back in 1950 and the MM in Analytics is its newest master-level program.
For the rest of this week, the students will begin classes and participate in team-building activities before returning home to continue the program online. The while-you-work program combines online learning with classroom sessions at Ivey’s downtown Toronto campus.
