They’ve come from diverse backgrounds and travelled to Ivey from all different parts of the world, but were united this week for one extraordinary experience – the Ivey MBA journey.
The 148 students who make up the MBA Class of 2024 came together for two events at Ivey this week to kick off the program, a reception on March 1 and a welcome breakfast on March 2. The events gave the students a chance to get to know each other and learn about their interesting backgrounds. This year’s class includes an aerospace engineer, social media influencers, and an open water scuba diver, just to name a few.
It was also a chance to learn more about the program and how it will prepare them for the future of business. During the welcome breakfast, Lyn Purdy, Ivey’s Associate Dean of Programs, discussed how Ivey’s case-method approach to learning will help the students to develop their thinking and approach to problem-solving so they’ll be prepared for the business challenges of today and tomorrow.
“At Ivey, we believe that the best way to learn about leading real-world businesses is to have real-world business experiences. And that’s why the cornerstone of all our programs is case-method learning,” she said. “Through immersive cases, injected with great speakers and alumni, you’ll learn about what’s happening in the world and the most pressing issues facing businesses today.”
Purdy told how this real-world approach to learning has stood the test of time and this year marks the centennial of the first class of students to graduate from Ivey.
She encouraged the students to make the most of their MBA experience, particularly the chance to learn from each other and forge lifelong relationships.
Ivey’s new MBAs have a wide range of experience, coming from 44 different industries. Here’s a look at the MBA Class of 2024 by the numbers.
