The 71 students in the MSc Class 0f 2024 kicked off the program today with an orientation session where they got to know each other and get a better sense of the Ivey experience.
The class includes 50 International Business and 21 CEMS students who together come from eight different birth countries. There are also 31 CEMS exchange students visiting Ivey from partner CEMS schools.
Citing the group’s diversity, Greg Zaric, MSc Program Faculty Director, said the students’ combined international experiences will allow them to learn from each other throughout the program.
Ivey Dean Sharon Hodgson told the students they are in for a remarkable journey, especially as the School celebrates its 100th anniversary throughout 2023. One of the highlights in the School’s history is that it was the first in Canada to launch a graduate-level business program in 1950.
Discussing how one of the primary goals of the School’s new strategy, Ivey Next, is to develop global citizens, Hodgson said three critical issues – the evolution of work; global citizenship, competitiveness, and innovation; and sustainability – will be embedded in the program’s curricula to prepare the students to address these issues in the workplace.
“As students studying international business, you know that in a world that is increasingly interdependent, we must understand how to continually contribute to and also compete on an international scale. Our role is to prepare you for success in a rapidly evolving global business environment,” she said.
