The 44 professionals in the Master of Management in Analytics (MMA) Class of 2023 met each other for the first time last night at a dinner at Ivey’s Spencer Leadership Centre to kick off the program.
They were greeted by Lyn Purdy, Associate Dean, Programs; Greg Zaric, MMA Program Faculty Director; and other MMA faculty, and learned about what’s ahead for them in their year-long journey together. For the rest of this week, the new MMA cohort will begin classes and participate in team-building activities in London, Ontario and then continue the program online. The while-you-work program features a combination of online learning and in-class sessions.
Purdy told the participants they are joining Ivey at an exciting time. Not only are they part of Ivey’s newest master-level program started just last year, but they will also get a chance to join in celebrations of Ivey’s strong history as the School marks its 100th anniversary in 2023. That history includes Ivey being the first business school to grant a master’s degree back in 1950. But while Ivey is celebrating its history, Purdy said it is also very much looking forward and she cited how the program will prepare the participants to lead the future of business.
“Through immersive cases, you’ll learn about what’s happening in the world, and the most pressing issues facing businesses today,” she said. “These learnings will help you to advance your careers, and, more importantly, help you become remarkable leaders. And we sure know that our world needs remarkable leadership right now.”
