We are excited to welcome the Ivey community to campus, but it’s fair to say that many experiences will look and feel different to ensure your safety.
Here’s a brief look at what has changed and what you need to know before coming to campus, whether it’s your first-ever visit or your first return since the onset of COVID-19. Also check out our video below where Jade Alexander, an HBA '21 candidate, is onsite at the Richard Ivey Building discussing some of the changes and what students need to know.
Before coming to campus
Anyone returning to campus is reminded to watch the Safe Return Essentials video, review all Safe Return protocols, complete the return-to-campus questionnaire at these links Students, Faculty/Staff, and wear a non-medical mask or face covering.
Masks are mandatory on campus. Western will be supplying masks for all staff and faculty, however, you are encouraged to also bring your own in case they aren’t available on your arrival.
Anyone arriving from outside of Canada must self-quarantine for 14 days, and no one should come to campus if feeling unwell.
For more information on campus safety, visit Western University’s COVID-19 Health and Safety page.
A new environment
If you’re returning to campus, you will notice many changes, including how you move through buildings or enter and exit rooms. There are floor markings, signage, and classrooms and meeting rooms have reduced occupancy and sparse furniture. Hand sanitizers have been added to high-use areas, such as classrooms, elevator lobbies, and entrances and exits, as well as strategically located throughout the Richard Ivey Building. Washroom vanities have also been modified to allow proper distancing between sinks, and the existing layout of washrooms is conducive to proper distancing measures with appropriate physical barriers in place.
What’s open and what’s closed
If you need your caffeine fix or a light snack, you’re in luck. Starbucks is open for the fall season, however, the Ivey Eatery will remain closed. Microwaves are available and the Brock Pavilion is still open with limited seating.
Need some quiet time for study? The C.B. "Bud" Johnston Library is here for you. Study space and computers are available to students, staff, and faculty, but with limited seating and some new policies.
The Ivey Trading Company will be open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. starting September 8, and is also taking online orders. It's a great source for Ivey-branded products, including the mask Alexander is wearing in the video.
Breakout rooms are not available to students at this time.
On-campus parking lots are being monitored. If you are carpooling to campus, please ensure safety, including wearing masks and physical distancing.
Information is changing quickly, please visit Western’s COVID-19 page or contact your program office for the latest update.
