Ivey Business School announces the appointment of Assistant Professor Romel Mostafa as Director of the Lawrence National Centre for Policy and Management, effective May 1, 2020.
Mostafa takes over the leadership role of the Lawrence Centre at a time when improving our national competitiveness is critical.
Canada faces unprecedented disruption in economic activities. The work of the Lawrence Centre will be important in shaping a prosperous future for Canada in a post-pandemic era. Under Mostafa's direction, the Centre will advocate for sound policy, and develop evidence-based research to improve Canada’s national competitiveness, with a focus on the significant challenges the country faces around digital infrastructure, physical infrastructure, and trade.
To build the momentum required to achieve these goals, Mostafa will drive policy and thought leadership, organize research and alumni events, and enhance the national profile of the Centre’s Advisory Board.
Mostafa is well-qualified to lead the Centre into the future. His research focuses on economic growth, industrial development, and technological change. He has published in leading business and policy journals, including the Academy of Management Journal, and Management Science and Telecommunications Policy. His research work has appeared in leading media outlets, including CNN, Chicago Tribune, and The New York Times. Mostafa has also received several teaching awards and has consulted for leading global organizations.
