UPDATE: Ivey’s Centre for Building Sustainable Value received a “Highly Commended” mention for its submission to the 2019 International Green Gown Awards.
The honour was announced at a ceremony on July 10, 2019, in New York City. The category, called “Benefitting Society,” recognizes the powerful and innovative ways education institutions are realizing their purpose in today’s society to benefit the lives of individuals, communities and wider society.
The work was a SSHRC-funded collaborative research project on Innovating for Sustainability, led by Ivey Professor Tima Bansal.
Endorsed by the UN Environment, the Green Gown Awards recognize exceptional sustainability initiatives at universities and colleges across the globe. The Innovating for Sustainability project aims to mobilize Canada’s innovation agenda to create shared value – value for business and society simultaneously.
The research team also includes Joel Gehman, University of Alberta; Marie-France Turcotte, Université du Québec à Montréal; Garima Sharma, University of New Mexico; and, Ivey postdoctoral researcher Sylvia Grewatsch.
Sustainable innovation is one of the Centre’s three strategic priorities.
