Professor Tima Bansal was recently recognized by the Aspen Institute Business & Society Program for her innovative teaching in the area of sustainability.
The Ideas Worth Teaching Awards honor extraordinary teaching in business education across the globe. Bansal was chosen for her work integrating sustainability teaching throughout the entire Ivey MBA Program coursework. Instead of teaching a course in sustainability, Bansal co-teaches almost all her classes with her faculty colleagues in core MBA courses.

By weaving in sustainability ideas and practices in the core MBA classes, Bansal shows students that sustainability isn’t an afterthought or an elective. It’s an essential aspect of all business decisions. By doing so, Bansal encourages students to consider the long-term implications of short-term business decisions.
Bansal, Executive Director of the Network for Business Sustainability and Director of the Centre for Building Sustainable Value, was one of just two Canadian winners, along with a professor from the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University.
Twenty winners were chosen overall, for their work on critical social issues, and how and why these issues relate to the business world.
The award winners will be recognized at an event called Working Towards Shared Prosperity: An Academic-Executive Dialogue in Ann Arbor, Michigan on October 26-27.
