Update: Ivey Business School is sad to learn Jay Switzer passed away on January 29, 2018.
Ivey Executive-in-Residence (EIR) Richard Dicerni and two alumni, Madeleine Paquin and Jay Switzer, were appointed to the Order of Canada, along with famous Canadians, including actor William Shatner and singer-songwriter Jann Arden, on December 29, 2017.
The Order of Canada is one of the country’s highest civilian honours for outstanding achievement, dedication to the community, and service to the nation.
Dicerni was recognized for his commitment and leadership as a senior public servant at the provincial and federal levels. As an Ivey EIR, Dicerni supports Ivey Energy Policy and Management, Lawrence National Centre for Policy and Management, Centre for Building Sustainable Value, and Ivey International Centre for Health Innovation.
He was recently added to the honour roll of Canada’s Public Policy Forum, an Ottawa-based non-profit think tank for public-private dialogue, for his contributions to public policy. During his career he advised the federal government and two provinces, led at various times by three different political parties. Prior to his career in the public service, Richard was President and CEO of the Canadian Newspaper Association, Senior Vice President at Ontario Power Generation and partner at Mercer Delta, a management consulting firm, as well as had membership on several boards.

Paquin, HBA ’84, is the President and CEO of Logistec. She was recognized for her accomplishments in business and innovation in supply chain practices and environment protection. She currently holds directorship in Air Canada and is Director and Vice-President of CargoM, the Logistics and Transportation Cluster of Montréal. Recently, she was named Entrepreneur of the Year at the International Bulk Journal awards.
Switzer, MBA ’83, was recognized for his leadership in the Canadian broadcasting community and mentorship of emerging Canadian artists and filmmakers. As Co-Founder and Chairman of Hollywood Suites Inc., he has influenced the Canadian arts and media industry for over two decades, helping to build brands, including MuchMusic, CityTV, CP24, and Fashion Television.
