The $5-million Linamar Scholarships for Women in Engineering and Business is a game-changer. The Globe and Mail feature explains that, while gains have been made over the years, challenges still remain to recruit a new generation of female business leaders.
Spearheaded by the leadership from Linamar CEO Linda Hasenfratz, EMBA '97, this initiative will further strengthen Western's engineering and business dual degree program.
"If we can attract more people to engineering, and more importantly to engineering and business combined, it strengthens our entire manufacturing sector and economy here in Ontario," Hasenfratz says. Given the duration of the donation, she says, "a significant number of women are going to be enrolled in these programs."
