John Chayka, HBA '14, has shot to the top of the management ranks in the NHL. As the youngest General Manager in the league's history, he suggests some of his success can be credited to his time at Ivey. In a special feature in the Globe and Mail, Chayka talks about how his business training taught him how to analyze problems and to develop his strategic thinking skills.
“I think that’s the wonder of going to a university that’s so well known for developing an intellectual curiosity and providing you with tools for the rest of your life,” Chayka says. “There was no memorizing formula or trying to memorize something to cram for an exam; it was all about the case-based learning and the process of decision-making.”
