Parents with children under 18 will start getting new benefit cheques – retroactive to January 1 – on July 20, as part of government stimulus spending announced by Finance Minister Joe Oliver recently.
The Canadian Press turned to economists, including Assistant Professor Mike Moffatt, for their outlooks on whether the family benefit spending spree will have much economic impact this year.
Moffatt said this month's burst of retroactive government cheques will have a positive impact on the economy.
The Canadian Press article ran in numerous publications including CBC News, Global News, and the London Free Press.
