The Albertan NDP government plans to raise the province’s minimum wage from $10.20 to $15 over the next three years, ushering in the highest minimum wage in Canada.
The National Post spoke with Assistant Professor Mike Moffatt about the potential economic effects this raise will have on Canadians.
“One of the big questions economists have always had is that we know you can’t raise the minimum wage to $100 an hour and make all of us wealthy — it’s always been a puzzle why some minimum wage hikes in the past didn’t really have any consequences, while others did,” said Moffatt.
