Putting learning into action
The Ivey Field Project (IFP) gets students out of the classroom and into the real world where they’ll get on-the-ground experience working on critical organizational challenges. By assessing the firm and industry through a data-focused lens, they’ll create insights that can make an immediate impact on the organization – and their own careers. IFP helps students to build in-demand organizational capabilities that can be applied to any industry anywhere in the world.
Students are expected to thoroughly understand the industry through the use of data. The MM-A cohort exercises their quantitative skills by identifying, analyzing, and consolidating data from all aspects of an organization to effectively create insights that will be meaningful to their client’s organization and add value to their decision-making.
Career-ready skills - immediate organizational impact
Previous IFP projects have given students hands-on experience with logistical planning, labour market predictions and talent retention, streamlining operational processes to maximize revenue, and forecasting customer purchasing behaviour for the creation of loyalty programs.
Example: One student team helped an insurance organization to assess the risks of wildfire damage in populated areas using a model that looks at historical wildfire data, precipitation, temperature, etc.
