Why did you decide to do an MBA?

Being an engineer, I always heard the buzz around doing an MBA but never quite understood how it would help me. Four years into my career is when the realization happened that If I wanted to understand and speak the language that the C-suite and upper management speak then I needed to be more business minded. I needed to be able to think about the big picture so that I could make a greater impact for the firm and increase the value I bring to the table. Following those years I had reached the peak of what I could achieve with my current knowledge and skill set so I decided to pursue an MBA; seeking greater challenges and increasing the potential of what I could achieve.

Ivey in a few words:

I often get asked from friends and family in the Middle East and other places in the world about what the Ivey experience has been like. I try to do my best to answer It but still believe I don't do it complete justice. The Ivey experience is truly unique and unlike anything I have seen throughout my educational journey; starting in Pakistan, completing my schooling in Qatar and then doing my undergrad in Mechanical Engineering in the UK. The education experience is exception with world renowned professors teaching us through real world scenarios seen in the case based learning format. Additionally, you learn not just from the professors but also the rest of the students in the classroom with you, all of whom bring a valuable perspective and expertise drawing from personal experience. The program is quite intense, in a great way, and you find yourself going through that experience with the other students creates some amazing friendships. Not just for yourself but also your partners who you may have moved to the city with; getting frequent opportunities to be a part of cohort activities and bond over their partners being in the program. The focus on road-mapping your career and getting you to where you want to be is also of great importance and Ivey does a great job in shaping you to become an exceptional candidate for the job you want along with opening doors to new opportunities through its vast alumni network. Not one thing but all of these things combined are what make Ivey a truly transformational year for everyone in the program.
