Why did you decide to do an MBA?

I decided to pursue an MBA after careful consideration of my former position as a project manager for the Government of Saskatchewan. I'd become a master at my role, and dissatisfied with the daily challenges with a strong desire to do more in the world by leading bigger projects. Additionally, I had a strong desire to re-locate to a location closer to my long-term partner who was based in Toronto, but has moved to London.

What is the most significant thing you've learned at Ivey?

Teamwork! As a project manager I thought I had a great handle on team management. Turns out there's a lot that drives team dynamics, and for the most part I was just lucky to have great people in my previous role. At Ivey you get tossed "into the fire" with learning teams consisting of very diverse people, from all over the world with very different backgrounds. Gaining the ability to drive team alignment and performance quickly is an invaluable skill I've learned at Ivey.
