Why did you decide to do an MBA?
Having worked as a Product Engineer and then as a Project Manager, I felt I'll eventually get stifled in my professional path if I don't grow my business toolkit, so I decided to come back to school, build my business acumen and re-enter the industry with a solid foundation.
What is the most significant thing you've learned at Ivey?
The more you learn about new things, the more you realize how much you still don't know!
What's been the most surprising aspect of the Ivey MBA journey to date?
The sense of fulfillment I have gotten by learning from not just the professors but all my peers as well. Everyone is really smart yet happy to help at all times!
Describe the role you play professionally:
I have worked as a Product Engineer in the automotive field for a high consumer interface commodity in Ford/Lincoln vehicles globally. I was responsible for the cradle-to-grave development and launch of my product in 7 different vehicle lines across multiple continents. More recently, I have also worked as a Project Manager for a clean energy/tech startup- helping the team build a robust structure around their product development activities and interfacing with potential clients who would collaborate to integrate with our technology.
What is the most challenging aspect of your job?
The most challenging (yet the most fun) aspect for me has been the responsibility to try to satisfy all the responsible stakeholders in my project. There are always conflicting interests, and it all comes down to ensuring the team is happy to move along on the common goal of achieving success for the product/project!
What is your biggest professional accomplishment?
I led a team to launch an integrated "Ignition start/stop and PRND Gear shifter" product for all new Lincoln SUVs in China in lieu with the country's new vehicle operating systems setup- giving the customers a fresh yet familiar luxurious interior design experience of a Lincoln.
