The Ivey alumni community is incredibly supportive and open to mentorship, guidance, and networking opportunities. Interacting with these experienced professionals has expanded my professional network and provided invaluable insights.
Describe the role you play professionally:
My role was to evaluate and asses risks associated with insuring businesses. I analyze insurance applications, assess business risks, determine policy terms and pricing, and collaborate with other professionals in the insurance company. Effective communication, continuous learning, and staying updated on industry trends are vital in my role.
What is the most challenging aspect of your job?
The most challenging aspect of being a commercial insurance underwriter is finding the right balance between managing risks and meeting client needs. Assessing risks accurately, adapting to changes in the business landscape, and effectively communicating decisions pose challenges.
What is your biggest professional accomplishment?
As the team lead for the digital transformation initiative, I successfully transitioned our organization's legacy system to a new system, Guidewire, resulting in enhanced operational efficiency, streamlined processes, and improved customer experience. Through strategic planning, effective communication, and collaborative efforts with team members and stakeholders, we ensured a seamless migration to the new system, minimized the impact on our operations, and exceeded project goals. I'm motivated to continue driving innovation and digital transformation in the future.
