Why did you decide to do an MBA?
I had been working for over 10 years in Finance, and in such a fast-moving environment I felt that I needed to develop my strategic thinking to become a leader who would positively contribute to society whilst being innovative. I knew that an MBA would help me gain the knowledge I was lacking but also connect me with various leaders, from different industries, who could help me learn about potential opportunities post-MBA and beyond.
What is the most significant thing you've learned at Ivey?
I came into the MBA thinking that I would acquire the theory I was lacking and learn how to apply frameworks to solve complex issues. Instead, I learnt that all the knowledge I needed to solve study cases or real-life corporate issues was in the classroom. By merging my professional and personal experiences with my classmates’ I became empowered to solve challenges of big scale, and the frameworks were a tool that helped me structure an actionable plan.
What's been the most surprising aspect of the Ivey MBA journey to date?
Ivey’s support team has been the most surprising aspect of my MBA journey! I knew before joining my MBA that I owed my acceptance to my advisor, Lindsay Lipman. When I started my MBA, I connected with my Career Management advisor, Robyn MacDougall, and I instantly felt that she had my best interest at heart. Since then, I have been meeting her on a weekly basis, and I learnt so much about myself, my aspirations, and the various industries I could positively contribute to whilst learning.

Spending time with my family is my favorite activity! As a mother to a two-year old and a wife, I truly believe that caring for them helped me remain grounded throughout my MBA experience and motivated me during challenging times. An Ivey MBA is a roller coaster experience and it is important to have a supportive community around you to go through it.
