Introduce yourself!
My name is Halle Shopperly and I was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. I completed my HBA in 2020 and worked for three years as an Area Manager at the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Calgary. At Amazon, I led a team of up to 175 direct reports to fulfill customer orders and meet Amazon's delivery promise. I worked across five departments between Inbound and Outbound. I decided to return to Ivey to pursue my MBA as part of the 2024 cohort. I have always had an adventurous nature, which has led me to many interesting pursuits. I have obtained my Student Private Pilots License and am a third-generation pilot on both sides of my family. I have grown up around aviation and love the technical challenges, opportunities, and sense of community that aviation provides. In my spare time, I enjoy watching Formula One racing, cooking and yoga.
Why did you decide to return to Ivey to do your MBA?
Through my 3 years of management experience, I have seen the benefit of my HBA on my career. Ivey MBA will strengthen the foundation that I have developed through HBA. Ivey MBA is essential to continue the accelerated path that I am on and further develop my confidence as a strong female business leader. Having connected with the case-based learning method, the continuity of the Ivey MBA will expand my decision-making ability to meet the demand and speed that operations and logistics requires as I continue in this industry post-MBA.
What is the most significant or surprising difference you've experienced in your MBA journey from your HBA journey?
In the MBA classroom, I have significantly more life and work experience to draw on which furthers my learning. I am able to connect cases to situations that I have faced at work, therefore bringing my learning full circle. The opportunity for reflection on my career, connected with what I am learning in class, helps to shape my future career.
