On September 5, the Ian O. Ihnatowycz Institute for Leadership will host its annual Ivey HBA Leadership Day – a day dedicated to the development of our HBA1 students as leaders. The HBA class will have the opportunity to have a first-hand look at the development of good leadership and leader character from keynote speaker Waneek Horn-Miller, followed by a leadership panel of notable leaders.

Keynote Address: Waneek Horn-Miller

8:30am – 9:45am, BMO Auditorium

Waneek Horn-Miller is an Aboriginal advocate and Olympic athlete from the Kahnawake Mohawk territory. She is the first ever Mohawk woman to represent Canada at the Olympics, where she was co-captain of the Women’s water polo team. Waneek has also taken home the gold in water polo in the PanAm Games, appeared on the cover of TIME, and was the first woman to win Carleton University’s Athlete of the Year—which she won four years in a row.

Leadership Panel

10:00am – 11:15am, BMO Auditorium

The panel of leaders represent a broad range of perspectives, and their message will focus on the learning that happens to good leaders throughout their lives – the experiences and influences that enable leaders to know what to do, how to act and how to lead during tumultuous and trying times. Three proven leaders will participate in the panel:

Franca Gucciardi
Chief Operating Officer, CIFAR

Jeannine Pereira, HBA '95
Director, Talent Development, EY Canada

Rashid Wasti, EMBA '03
EVP & Chief Talent Officer, Weston Group of Companies

Mini Case Class
