From an ever-evolving pandemic to supply chain disruptions, talent scarcity, price instability, geopolitical conflicts, 4th industrial revolution and Net Zero imperatives, the Canadian economy faces powerful, disruptive forces. These forces are in play when Canada's long term growth potential was already diminishing. Against this backdrop, how should our governments, businesses and other key stakeholders, work in lockstep to build on our country’s major strengths, and stimulate sustained growth and ensure prosperity for all Canadians?
To tackle this overarching challenge facing our nation at this critical juncture, the Lawrence National Centre (LNC) is convening leading policy experts, business executives and thought leaders at a policy summit.
Themes of Discussion
Invited keynote speakers and panelists will examine and offer their informed views on:
- Why in this environment of heightened global volatility, generating sustained, inclusive growth will require Canada to double down on spurring innovation and human capital development;
- Why Canada has trailed its peers in innovation; what fundamental barriers are encountered by our firms in bringing new inventions to market and scaling up; and, how we can advance Canada’s policy agenda to invigorate our innovation ecosystems and encourage the responsible use and wide adoption of next generation technologies; and,
- How the rapid evolution of work environment, skill demand and workforce is influencing our industries; how governments, businesses and educational institutions can close the growing skill gaps and leverage the talent that exists within our First Nations, minority and new immigrant communities to bring greater dynamism and diversity in our workforce.
