Anne Matthews is a digital transformer and storyteller with over 20 years of public sector experience. Anne is the Director of Communications and Knowledge Mobilization at the trail-blazing research firm, Blueprint. As well, she advises private sector and public sector organizations on communications, employee engagement, change management and the future of work.
During Anne’s time in government, she led communications teams in the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, including acting as the spokesperson for provincial health matters. She negotiated communications strategies at inter-provincial government tables, led the marketing for the expansion of ServiceOntario centres across the province and created the Behavioural Insights Unit for the Ontario government.
Anne is an accomplished professional communications trainer. For example, she led a mission to Kampala, Uganda to coach Ugandan federal public sector leaders. She has also taught public speaking and media relations courses at the provincial government level.
Always a transformer, she was the business lead for a new digital platform for the 67,000 employees, in the Ontario government’s largest Agile crowd-sourced internal project. The turning point in her career was joining the startup team for the Ontario Digital Service, leading small nimble service design teams to envision new ways to create digital jobs and procurement models. Her early career was spent in newsrooms at CFMT, Citytv and CBS News in New York City as an assignment editor, reporter and producer.
In her free time, she’s writing her first novel, producing a podcast on public sector innovation and mentoring women in confidence at a new social enterprise.
