Why Ivey?
I chose Ivey primarily because of the 2 + 2 model. I loved my first two years in arts and valued the opportunity to explore my interests. That opportunity, combined with Ivey's unique method of case-based teaching, really attracted me to the school.
Ivey has taught me too many invaluable lessons to count them all. Yes, Ivey teaches you the business fundamentals, but it also gives you the opportunity to explore your own interests. Career management did an excellent job facilitating the on-campus recruiting process, making the recruiting process as seamless as possible.
At Ivey you can feed your passions and meet others who will help you along that journey.
What was one highlight of your Ivey Experience?
I really enjoyed being a Guru (orientation leader) this year for Ivey O-Week. It was a great experience welcoming others to the Ivey community and helping them adjust to life at Ivey.
What advice would you give incoming HBA students?
Take advantage of the amazing opportunities that are being afforded to you, and try not to worry so much.
Do your cases! Case-based learning is so much richer than the lecture environment; prepare to be engaged. Use these two years to make mistakes, make friends and explore new interests. What you get out of Ivey is entirely a function of what you put in, so make the most of your experience.
Given the demanding curriculum in HBA1, what support is available for students?
There are many supports available to students who struggle in adjusting to life at Ivey. Section mates, professors and HBA2s are all willing to lend an ear. Career Management, Program Services and My HBA are all places you can go to get help at Ivey. Western's on-campus support services are also available to Ivey students.
