Why Ivey?

I chose Ivey because of the unrivalled network and relationships that I would develop, valuable alumni resources and the real-world focus in how the classes are taught.  I've learned the skills, attitudes and processes that I need to deal with uncertainty, in both professional and personal contexts.

What has one highlight of your Ivey Experience been so far?

I had the opportunity to help HBA1s become more comfortable with themselves and with the intensity of the Ivey experience as an O-Week Executive Guru. The ability to provide useful information and support to incoming HBAs and to see them succeed in their classes and recruiting was incredibly rewarding.

How has Ivey’s Career Management set you up for success?

Career Management has given me "inside tips" on how to be recruited aside from just responding to job board postings. They have taught me skills that will help me network and build relationships.

What advice do you have for incoming HBA students? 

Stay true to yourself, your direction and your goals. All the other noise is just that - noise. Try not to be too wrapped up in the whirlwind of events and opportunities presented to your peers, and don't let other people's achievements or failures detract from those of your own. Celebrate your friends' achievements with them, but don't let it get you down. Success, whether it be at Ivey or in the workforce, is not a zero sum game.

With the intense curriculum in HBA1, what support is available for students? 

Ivey has many amazing support systems in place. From Career Management, to Peer Advisors, to myHBA; the institutional support systems are always there to help you. What I found most helpful was the support given by my peers and HBA2s. The HBA network and spirit spans across both years and HBA2s are always happy to help. We're all here for each other, and remember every HBA2 has probably received help from an HBA2 when they were in their first year.
