Why Ivey?

Ivey has an international reputation for strong alumni network and attracting top students. This was one of the reasons why I initially decided to attend Ivey. After participating in the prerequisite case courses in my first two years, my decision was fully confirmed. Instead of learning by reading a textbook, Ivey allows students to learn by doing with the case method. This is what I value the most and why I chose to study at Ivey.

I also appreciated the opportunity to network, listen, and learn from business professionals from leading firms. Their stories and experiences have given me exposure to several elements of the business world and help guide my future career path.

My time at Ivey has taught me to be an exceptional leader not only in my life at Ivey but also in a professional workplace. Ivey has taught me a variety of skills from technical to interpersonal that are applicable to every aspect of my life.

What was one highlight of your Ivey Experience?

The Ivey classroom setting has been my favourite part of the Ivey experience. After a full school year, I’ve developed great friendships, a network of professionals, and so many memories that will follow me after leaving Ivey. 

What advice would you give incoming HBA students?

Enjoy it! Coming into Ivey can be a bit overwhelming but my piece of advice is to slow down and enjoy all the opportunities that are given to you. There will be speakers, networking events, case competitions, and so much more. You want to take the chance to get as much as you can out of your Ivey experience.

Given the demanding curriculum in HBA1, what support is available for students?

Ivey does not expect you to do it alone. There is a long list of ways Ivey provides students with support. One of which is being a network of professors. There are also many other ways to receive support such as faculty advisors, career management, tutors and peers. 

Career Management has been essential in giving me the foundations to prepare for recruiting and looking for career opportunities. Their sessions on networking, cover letters and resumes were crucial to preparing to networking and interview with some of the top firms.
