Julie Bernard

Assistant Professor (Part-Time), Managerial Accounting and Control

Julie Bernard is a Postdoctoral Scholar and lecturer at the Ivey Business School.Her academic interests lie in responsible investment and shareholder activism, particularly in integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria, proxy voting, and their role in combating climate change.

 She joined the Sustainable Finance Lab in September 2022 as a postdoctoral scholar. Her research focuses on understanding and facilitating the replication and scaling of a highly innovative Canadian financial product designed to leverage finance for nature-based carbon mitigation. Her research at Ivey Business School has been supported by various organizations, including Carbon Solutions @ Western and the Canadian Academic Accounting Association (CAAA). Julie holds a Ph.D. from Université Laval, earned in 2022. 

Beyond her research, Julie enjoys spending time outdoors, engaging in activities such as trail running, hiking, canoeing, as well as cross-country and Nordic skiing. She is also actively involved in Accounting for Impact and has served on several boards, including the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et Culture and is currently on the board of Thèsez-vous.
