Managing Energy and the Environment Course
Managing Energy and the Environment is a popular undergraduate course at Ivey, taught by Associate Professor Adam Fremeth who is Associate Director of the Ivey Energy Policy and Management Centre and the E.J. Kernaghan Chair in Energy Policy. The course meets a growing demand from Ivey students to better understand the opportunities and challenges in the global energy sector and how firms can strategically manage development in a financially, socially and environmentally sustainable manner. Through case studies, simulations, and negotiation exercises, the course has taught over 500 students about how energy firms compete, thrive, and contribute to Canada’s business landscape. The students benefit from active in-class participation from the Centre’s Executive Fellows, through guest lectures and live discussions, as well as participation from other invited industry and government experts. Students who have taken this course have subsequently pursued careers in energy, mining, oil and gas, investment banking, public advocacy, accounting, and strategy consulting.
