This course provides you with a “macro view” – an understanding of the broad economic context in which businesses operate. Our focus is on macroeconomic issues, such as how and why economies grow at different rates over time; why we sometimes experience large fluctuations in economic activity and variables, such as unemployment and inflation; and how major policy actors, such as governments and central banks, influence economic outcomes with policy tools, such as interest rates and fiscal policy. The course is global in perspective, but devotes a significant amount of attention to Canada.
