The Ivey Alumni Network (IAN) serves as both an advisory body and working group to support the department of Alumni Relations. Board members help establish policies and programming to unite alumni. Chapter volunteers help keep our global alumni connected through events and networking opportunities.

Board of Directors
Board Members serve the IAN through several committees:
- Executive Committee, comprised of Board Chair, Vice-Chair and Committee Chairs
- Equity Diversity and Inclusion Committee
- Channels Committee
- Governance and Recognition Committee
- Data and Analytics Committee
- Global Ivey Day Committee
- Career Acceleration Committee
To be eligible to serve as a Board Member, candidates must be graduates of the Ivey Business School at Western University.
The IAN believes strongly in equity, diversity and inclusion and that the composition of the Board should be representative of our alumni body.
- Provide valuable feedback and ideas from the unique perspective of alumni in the areas of special events, career services, communications, leadership development and recognition, and lifelong learning
- Assist the Ivey Alumni Relations department in its alumni strategy and long-range planning of alumni programs and activities
- Understand your assigned committee’s mandate and actively contribute to its objectives and deliverables, individually taking ownership of its initiatives, as assigned by the Committee Chair
- Contribute to a welcoming environment by demonstrating respect and fair treatment of all members
- Demonstrate behaviour that reflects the best interests of the IAN and its alumni members
- Foster an increased “connectivity” between the Ivey Business School and its alumni
- Be committed to the Board and its decisions for a three year term, following a one year trial period
- Attend at least 1 of the 2 Board meetings per year, either virtually or in-person
- Attend University and alumni functions whenever possible
- Make an annual personal financial contribution to reflect support and commitment to the School and its initiatives
- Declare conflicts of interest, where applicable
Volunteers
Volunteers support the Ivey Alumni Network and its Board through focused participation. Volunteer roles are varied - example volunteer roles include:
- Global Ivey Day event preparation and execution
- Ivey Pledge ceremony participation
- Chapter-focused initiatives
We encourage volunteer participation as a first step in engaging with the IAN. To be eligible to volunteer, candidates must be graduates of the University.

- Understand your role’s mandate whether in support a local Chapter, an Ivey event or a Board priority
- Actively contribute to objectives and deliverables as set by Committee/Chapter leadership, individually taking on some ownership of its initiatives

- Act as an ambassador of the School and the IAN to foster connectivity between all

Committee Roles and Responsibilities
- Work with the EDI Chair and Director of Alumni Relations to develop a mandate and structure for the EDI portfolio and associated metrics to measure success
- Work closely with other Executive committee members and chapters to bring an EDI lens to all alumni programming
- Grow/evolve the established Alumnae segment
- Potentially work to establish other segments
- Oversee development of programming / content for all groups represented by the EDI portfolio (inclusive and exclusive)
- Time commitment (estimated hours per quarter or month): 2-4 hours per month
- Oversee the direction and planning of annual Global Ivey Day events, including building a committee of event volunteers to ensure adequate support and engagement for events
- Work closely with the Director, Alumni Relations at Ivey to ensure events are aligned with and support the School strategy and brand
- Work closely with Funnel Communications on the planning and execution of large-scale Toronto events
- Provide ideas and feedback with Chapter Presidents / Regional Heads regarding localized engagement events
- Time commitment (estimated hours per quarter or month): 3-5 hours per month, with 5-10 hours in March, April and May
- Provide governance oversight for the Board of Directors, its activities and its members
- Lead the succession planning, recruitment and selection activities
- Provide the School with guidance and assistance on the selection of the Distinguished Service Award and Faculty Service Award recipients
- Lead the planning, selection and recognition process for the Ivey Alumni Achievement Award
- Manage Alumni volunteer participation for Pledge ceremonies across programs
- Lead the amendment of the Ivey Pledge, as necessary
- Time commitment (estimated hours per quarter or month): 6-8 hours per month
- Design, execute, analyze results and share Voice of the Alumni Survey
- Work with all IAN committees to determine KPIs and benchmarks
- Design and implement a KPI dashboard for measuring/tracking IAN data/insights
- Time commitment (estimated hours per quarter or month): 2-4 hours per month, with up to 8 hours in January, February and March
- Act as liaison between the School and Chapters
- Provide governance oversight for Chapters Presidents and their activities
- Lead the succession planning, recruitment, and selection of new Chapter volunteers in partnership with the Governance and Recognition Committee
- Assist Chapters with annual planning and engaging with local Alumni throughout the year
- Time commitment: 2-4 hours per month
