Professional Code of Conduct
As members of The Ivey Academy (IA) family and the wider Ivey Business School community, faculty, clients, program participants and staff members are expected to comply with The Ivey Academy Professional Code of Conduct. The objective of this Code is to promote both a work and learning environment, which adhere to the highest standards of integrity and conduct.
The Ivey community welcomes individuals of different ages, socio-economic backgrounds, non-discriminatory perspectives, ethnicities, genders, gender identities, gender expressions, national origins, religious and spiritual beliefs, sexual orientations, abilities, and other visible and nonvisible differences.
We acknowledge that Western University is located on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee, Lūnaapéewak, and Attawandaron peoples, on lands connected with the London Township and Sombra Treaties of 1796 and the Dish with One Spoon Covenant Wampum. This land continues to be home to diverse Indigenous peoples (First Nations, Métis and Inuit) whom we recognize as contemporary stewards of the land and vital contributors of our society.
We consider our Ivey Academy community, in-person and virtual, to be a place where all individuals, whatever their differences, are valued and will be treated with respect.
Staff/ Faculty/ Clients and Program Participants of The Ivey Academy community are expected to:
Represent themselves honestly in all communications and correspondence.
Respect the views, contributions and confidentiality of others during in-class and out-of-class discussions and in all interactions, virtual and in-person.
Uphold personal responsibility and accountability in the fair and reasonable treatment of all partners, colleagues and stakeholders, both internal and external. This includes respecting timelines, schedules and attendance at discussion groups, classes and meetings.
Demonstrate open and fair collaboration with colleagues and team members of The Ivey Academy, regardless of their role with the IA community.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe environment for all individuals as outlined in the Ontario Human Rights Code (Links to an external site.) and Western’s Non-Discrimination / Harassment policy. (Links to an external site.)
Promote the physical safety of all members within The Ivey Academy community, and to respect and follow required health guidelines.
Create an environment of psychological safety where expressing opinions, taking risks and making mistakes is a healthy part of every learning opportunity. By promoting psychological safety within The Ivey Academy, we unleash resilience, motivation, open-mindedness and persistence.
Regard the virtual learning environment, including courses, activities and events, with the same respect as in-person sessions. Attendance, engagement and participation are to be treated as a priority to ensure the highest quality educational experience.
Respect the confidentiality of materials shared during program preparation and delivery and to adhere to copyright, where applicable. To ensure the materials, data and the real and intellectual property of others are not used for academic, commercial or personal gain without prior permission of the copyright owners or content originators.
Maintain a professional demeanor while attending off-site social events and exercising personal responsibility in upholding the values of integrity and respect while representing The Ivey Academy in the community. This includes the responsible and reasonable consumption of alcohol, where applicable.
We expect everyone to do their best to uphold all that is encapsulated here. However, unwillingness to comply with the IA Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary or legal action by The Ivey Academy, Ivey Business School or Western University.
