Dr. Hubert Pun is an Associate Professor and the PhD Program Director at the Ivey Business School . He was awarded the Western Faculty Scholar Award for his research on the application of blockchain technology in business; this award recognizes faculty members with an international presence in their discipline who are considered all-round scholars.
Hubert grew up in Hong Kong and earned his undergraduate and Master's degrees in engineering in Vancouver. He worked for a Venezuelan start-up company, which expanded into Central/North America (e.g., Colombia, Mexico, Panama, and USA) during 2002-2005. His work involved helping firms deploy secure computer networks.
Hubert completed his PhD in Operations Management and Decision Sciences at the Kelley School of Business (Indiana University) in 2010. Since joining the Ivey Business School in the same year, he has taught in the HBA, MSc, MBA, EMBA, and PhD programs. Hubert has received several teaching commendations, including Ivey Dean's Teaching Commendation Letters (top 10% Ivey faculty) and the University Students' Council Teaching Honor Roll in 2016/2017. He has also been awarded the Research Merit Award (top 10% Ivey faculty) in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022. His research interests include co-opetition, counterfeiting products, and the application of blockchain as an enterprise solution. He has published in several top tier journals, including Manufacturing & Service Operations Management (M&SOM), Production and Operations Management (POM), and Journal of Operations Management (JOM). Hubert currently serves as a Senior Editor at Production and Operations Management (POM) and an Associate Editor at the International Journal of Production Research (IJPR).
