Darren Meister

Darrien Meister is an Associate Professor of General Management (Entrepreneurship and Innovation) at the Ivey Business School and is cross-appointed to the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Western Engineering.  Before joining Ivey, Darren taught at Queen's University and Carleton University, where he was one of the architects of an Information Systems concentration in the Bachelor of Commerce program. He was a Rotary International Foundation scholar, attending the University of Cambridge. Subsequently, he earned a PhD at the University of Waterloo, Canada.

As the Thompson Chair in Engineering Leadership and Innovation, Darren leads efforts to integrate engineering and business perspectives on current business opportunities. His interests focus on technology-based entrepreneurship and the interactions between the founding team and early customers. This work is based on his longstanding interests in the role of technology in enhancing organizational effectiveness, specifically as it concerns innovation processes. Through these experiences, Professor Meister has made significant contributions to the inclusion of experiential learning in to case learning environments.

Through research and consulting opportunities, Darren has worked with Accenture, Bank of Montreal, Industry Canada, Intel, Nortel, and Siemens. He is a past Chair of the Special Interest Group on the Adoption and Diffusion of Information Technology, within the Association for Information Systems. Professor Meister was also Ivey’s representative on the Executive Board of CEMS, the Global Alliance of Management Education, from 2009-2014.
