Barnini Bhattacharyya is an Assistant Professor of Organizational Behaviour at Ivey Business School. Her research primarily focuses on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), particularly emphasizing intersectionality and the allyship of marginalized groups in the workplace. She investigates the systemic barriers to inclusion faced by individuals with marginalized identities, such as women of colour, and explores how organizations can create more inclusive environments.
Barnini holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Behaviour from the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia. Her academic work is highly interdisciplinary, integrating insights from sociology and psychology, and has been published in top academic journals. She also draws from her prior industry experience in banking and the nonprofit sector, enhancing her teaching and research with real-world applications. She is passionate about social justice and is dedicated to advancing decolonization within organizational systems.
In addition to her academic career, Barnini is committed to activism, regularly volunteering with organizations aimed at making the world a more equitable place. Originally from New Delhi, India, she brings a global perspective to her work.
