In an environment of rapid change, systemic issues, and social challenges, research is more important than ever to help leaders understand and adapt to new developments. But to do so, it needs to be bolder, more impactful, and confront what’s top of mind for business and society.
Aiming to be the hub for expertise and insights on three critical issues – Canada’s Place in the World, the evolution of work, and Sustainability – Ivey is stimulating knowledge-creation in these areas through increased incentives and broader supports, while benefiting practitioners through expanded outreach. We’re also integrating this knowledge throughout our programs and student journey to ensure we’re developing future leaders with the ability to put the learnings into practice – and change the world.
Transforming business research into impact
Ivey’s researchers play a critical role in finding solutions to the world’s major challenges and advancing a resilient and sustainable future for all.
That’s why it’s imperative for Ivey to incentivize and support its researchers to hone in on what matters most to the world today and to transform their findings into impact. New funding, resources, and mentorship have been put in place to increase our focus on critical issues research. Mentorship, media training, and teaching relief are also important ways Ivey is supporting its faculty members throughout their research journeys. One important recent initiative to advance research on one of our critical issues, is the creation of a new Evolution of Work Chair position, held by Rob Austin, for further work on reimagining talent and use of technology.

What's next
Research and doctoral student financial support
As we look to expand Ivey’s thought leadership and impact, our newly established 1:1 Matching Chairs Program has been developed to significantly deepen faculty research and doctoral student support on the critical issues of Canada’s Place in the World, the evolution of work, and Sustainability. This funding approach provides an incentive for donors to invest in an endowed chair that is of strategic importance to the School.

Continue efforts to recruit new faculty with critical issues research interests and provide mentorship.
Communication and outreach
Continue to share Ivey research through the newsletter and events series.
Media training
