Commissioned for the Richard Ivey Building by Richard W. Ivey

The enormous three-aneled work, commissioned specifically for the Richard Ivey Building at the Ivey Business School, reverberates with movement as a result of the interwoven linear elements as well as the gradual yet forceful opposition of colour. At the centre of the work the two opposing forces come to a head. The work presents a playful depiction with an intrinsically cartoon-like nature yet simultaneously makes reference to traditional still life through the incorporation of carefully arranged fruits (fittingly the apples and oranges from which the work derives its title).

Exhibition Information

The Instabilities exhibition presents a number of works similar to Apples and Oranges (Working Title), which was specifically commissioned for the Richard Ivey Building. A catalogue of Instabilities is available and includes an essay by Alexander Nagel.
